Norway have appointed Martin Sjögren as their new coach for UEFA Women's EURO 2017.
Sjögren, 39, leaves Swedish champions Linköping to take over from Roger Finjord, who stepped down at the end of qualifying. The first game in charge for Sjögren will be against his home nation of Sweden in Murcia on 19 January, and Norway play the opening game of UEFA Women's EURO 2017 against hosts the Netherlands on 19 July, with Belgium and Denmark also in Group A as the two-time winners aim to go one better than their 2013 runners-up finish.
In charge of Linköping since 2013, Sjögren led the club to their second Damallsvenskan title this year, meaning a campaign next season in the UEFA Women's Champions League, having reached the 2014/15 quarter-finals. Sjögren previously coached at Öster and LdB Malmö (now Rosengård), where he won two league championships.
"It feels so good to have the opportunity to take over a very exciting national team," Sjögren said. "They are a very exciting team with great potential. I am looking forward to starting work. There is not long before the European Championship, but we should develop a clear plan and work hard towards the championship."
