Dynamo Kyiv were the first side through to the round of 32, with FCSB, Arsenal Zenit and Lazio joining them, but AC Milan missed their chance and Everton are heading out.

Dynamo Kyiv were the first side to confirm a round of 16 place, winning 1-0 at Young Boys in Group B, with AC Milan's progress postponed by a goalless draw at AEK Athens.

A worse fate befell manager-less Everton, eliminated following a 3-0 Group E loss at Lyon. Arsenal, FCSB, Lazio and Zenit can also start making plans for springtime UEFA Europa League football, but the dream is also over for Maccabi Tel-Aviv and point-less Vardar.
