Roma taste derby delight, Feyenoord find form

Roma's 2-0 derby win against Lazio was the eye-catching result among the UEFA Europa League hopefuls this weekend – despite Feyenoord scoring six goals and a rare Schalke loss.

Roma's 2-0 victory away to derby rivals Lazio was the stand-out scoreline as the UEFA Europa League teams warmed up for their final group stage outing with weekend domestic games.

The Giallorossi needed a win to keep pace with Serie A leaders Juventus and they duly delivered after a balanced first half, Kevin Strootman pouncing on a mistake to lob in on 64 minutes. Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi was sent off from the bench shortly after that strike, and Radja Nainggolan made sure of the result late on to keep Roma within four points of the summit.

There were seven goals as Feyenoord took on Sparta, meanwhile, and the Eredivisie pacesetters hit six of them to record a morale-boosting victory. It was only the club's second win in seven games in all competitions, and it ensured they remain top on goal difference ahead of fellow UEFA Europa League contenders Ajax, who beat Groningen 2-0.

Schalke's recent revival suffered a blow, on the other hand, as they succumbed 2-1 away to Bundesliga top side Leipzig – the Royal Blues' first reverse in 13 matches in all competitions. Elsewhere, Manchester United were frustrated by a late leveller in their 1-1 draw at Everton and Ligue 1 frontrunners Nice – already eliminated in Group I – downed Toulouse 3-0.
