UEFA would like to send its condolences to NK Maribor and the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS) following the untimely death of two Maribor players on Tuesday. A minute's silence will be observed before the Slovenian club's UEFA Europa League match with Aberdeen on Thursday, when both teams will wear black armbands.

Striker Zoran Baljak and left-back Damjan Marjanović, both 20, died in a car accident as they returned from training on Tuesday. Goalkeeper Ljubomir Moravac, 19, was seriously injured. Defender Žiga Lipušček, 19, suffered minor injuries.

Aberdeen were quick to convey their condolences, with the message: "Aberdeen Football Club is deeply saddened to hear of the deaths of two young Maribor players earlier today."

The two teams drew 1-1 in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round last Thursday in Scotland. The tie concludes this Thursday with the second leg in Maribor, Slovenia.
