Communicating to the outside world and making the most of modern communication tools is an essential element of UEFA's role as European football's governing body. The task of keeping the public up to date with UEFA news, activities and key messages is undertaken by the UEFA communications division.
The communications division is responsible for managing UEFA's relations with the media and servicing the media with respect to UEFA events; for managing UEFA's image where the football family and the public at large are concerned, through UEFA online and offline publications; and for managing UEFA's television production and digital solutions to ensure coherent production of content.
The division's Media Relations and Corporate Public Relations team takes charge of media activities at UEFA matches and events; supplies media officers for matches in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and EURO final tournaments; and handles accreditations for finals, final tournaments and other UEFA events. It promotes UEFA and its activities; defines and delivers corporate information on UEFA and its mission; takes care of corporate PR issues; and promotes the image of UEFA and key messages through press releases, statements, etc.
Online and Publishing takes responsibility for UEFA's popular website UEFA.com – which is available in 12 languages and which offers news, views, information, live coverage and scores, as well as statistics about UEFA, its activities, its competitions, its member associations and the clubs and stars who shine in the European game. This section also manages UEFA's official publication UEFA•direct, other specialist publications, plus UEFA's annual reports and other material.
Television and Video Production is responsible for technologies solutions – internal programming, match recording, dubbing and archive research, including the Legacy project which will focus on the history of UEFA and European football. Its host broadcasting operation centres on live coverage when UEFA is a host broadcaster; providing additional programming; and supervising external host broadcasters.
