Specialist training for top managers and executives working in football and other sports is moving up a gear with the fourth edition of the Executive Master in European Sport Governance (MESGO) – a programme to which UEFA makes a key contribution.

The latest edition of this unique programme kicked off in Paris this month – with participants from across Europe and the world set to bolster their management skills and benefit sport as a whole.

MESGO is targeted at experienced sports sector professionals working in international, European and national federations; clubs, leagues and trade unions; European institutions and governments; and partner organisations of sports bodies.

The programme provides them with training, social and professional contacts, knowledge-sharing opportunities and personal development. Nine one-week seminars are spread over 18 months and take place in different cities in Europe and beyond.

MESGO, supported by UEFA and various European academic institutions, focuses on the current and future key challenges faced by sports organisations.

Areas covered range from commercial rights exploitation, social dialogue, match-fixing, doping and social responsibility to in-depth analyses of legal, political and economic issues, such as competition law, litigation prevention, risk management, regulation and media policy.

UEFA is joined in the programme by several partner sports institutions – European Handball Federation (EHF); International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF); Rugby Europe, FIBA Europe (basketball) and the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV).
