With the days ticking down to the start of UEFA Women’s EURO 2017, the eagerly awaited tournament in the Netherlands is featured in depth in the latest edition of UEFA Direct.

The first Women’s EURO to feature 16 teams kicks off on Sunday 16 July, and UEFA’s official magazine focusses on a variety of topics related to the tournament and women’s football, as the top European women’s national teams and an array of talented players prepare to make their mark over the next three weeks.

We run the rule over all of the participating teams, and learn how the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) has been pulling out the stops to promote the event across the country – while also making women’s football development a key priority for the future.

Europe’s top women referees prepared for the coming EURO at a pre-tournament workshop in May. We find out how their development in recent years has matched the remarkable progress of women’s football.

June brought the launch of UEFA’s new Together #WePlayStrong campaign, which aims to make women’s football the number one sport played by women in Europe within five years. UEFA Direct looks at this ambitious drive to get women and girls involved in the game across the continent.

Elsewhere in the latest edition, we review Real Madrid and Lyon’s respective triumphs in the men’s and women’s UEFA Champions League finals in Cardiff, and preview next month’s UEFA Super Cup match between Madrid and Manchester United in Skopje.
