2018-21 UEFA club competition licensing rights sales

UEFA has the pleasure to announce that it is inviting proposals for the unbranded ‘Apparel and Novelty Product’ licensing category for the 2018/2021 Club Competitions cycle.  This involves the delivery of all contracted unbranded apparel and novelty products for the UEFA Champions League (UCL), UEFA Europa League (UEL), UEFA Super Cup (USC), UEFA Futsal Champions League (UFC) and UEFA Youth League (UYL).

In order to avoid confusion, unbranded products are forbidden from featuring any manufacturer branding anywhere on the product or packaging, or in related promotions.

UEFA’s official retail partners will offer additional channels to market these products, such as the Official UEFA Club Competition Online Store, and the On-site Merchandising Programme Partner.

The Apparel and Novelty product category covers various programmes including:

UCL and UEL Unbranded Products - a range of apparel, gift and souvenir, home textiles and tableware products featuring the competition core brand. Commercial partners, UEFA and clubs can purchase products from the Apparel and Novelty partner and resell them through any retail channel.

UCL and UEL Unbranded Club Products - a range of at least five different categories, in a catalogue, which participating clubs can purchase products from the Apparel and Novelty partner and resell them through club channels.

UCL and UEL Unbranded Final Products – the onsite merchandise partner will sell at least five different categories of UCL Final Unbranded Products.

Below are some of the key products relating to this category, but please be aware that the final product list and the level of exclusivity associated with the merchandise will only be confirmed during the sales process and must be aligned with the ‘On-site Merchandise Partner’ agreement:

Apparel products – includes, but is not restricted to, sports clothing and apparel (sports inspired ‘lifestyle’ ranges), sports footwear (including sports inspired ‘lifestyle’ ranges), sports bags, sports scarves, caps, pennants and flags.

Novelty products – includes, but is not restricted to, pins (plastic), USB memory sticks, lanyards, mugs, money boxes, vacuum flasks/bottles, party kits, air fresheners, plastic cups, teddy bears and bedding.

• Please note that UEFA’s ‘Trophy Replica’ partner can also produce key rings, pins and certain other variants of the products listed, but these products must bear a 3D and/or half-cut 3D trophy present.

Proposals are invited from suitably qualified suppliers with experience of working with sports organisations on a similar licensed product programme.

Interested parties must demonstrate a logistical network capable of providing a full global fulfilment of products, quick response capabilities on product orders (often only a two-day turnaround), and the necessary in-house production standards and capabilities. Active relationships with football clubs across Europe maybe taken into consideration.
